One Finger Guitar Songs? How it works...

With the "One Finger" concept you can play many string instruments - especially the guitar - with just one finger of the left hand. The right hand is strumming or picking the strings...

This is possible by changing the tuning of the guitar!

The next graphic shows the "standard tuning" of the guitar and the "One Finger Tuning".
The marked strings are tuned downwards, there is no need to change the strings of the guitar.

After the tuning of the guitar it can already start!

The individual songs are prepared in such a way that they can be played immediately by means of the lyrics and two lines of numbers.

The numbers of the line above the text represent the chords: "0" means "do not touch", all strings are played as empty strings. "1" means "fingering" all the strings before the first fret "," "2" means of course "gripping at the fret two" and so on.

The numbers of the line below the text indicate the melody played on the string specified in the book. Here too, the numbers tells the fret which you have to grab, but only with this one string. So you can recall the melody or find the pitch to sing along...

"Playing by numbers" - it is hardly any easier!

Each song has a small recommendation for strumming, as a small instruction for the right hand.

An example with explanations and a whole song:

"The easist guitar songbook ever!"

The books are made "language neutral" with graphics. And if text is needed, it is written down English AND German language - no matter whether german Folksongs or english kids songs are the subject ...

For Guitar only? No...

The "One Finger" concept can also be used with other string instruments.
Here are some PDF files from other instruments with the typical standard tunings and the appropriate "one finger" tuning:

Frequently asked questions - FAQ

  • One Finger Songs?
With the "One Finger" system, all songs can be played with only one finger of the left hand. All classical guitar fingerings fall away, you just have to press with one finger the guitar strings at the indicated fret.
  • How can this work?
It's easy: change the guitar into the "one finger" tuning, so the most important tones are available. Using this simple tuning all songs have been reworked; other (better fitting) "chords" have been used, major / minor parallels are in use, etc.
  • Does this work with any guitar?
Yes, no matter if 3/4 guitar, classical guitar or Western guitar, with steel strings or nylon, .. And also with other string instruments everything works well, see below.
  • Do I have to put other strings on the guitar?
No, only a few strings are tuned downwards, so tearing the strings is very unlikely. The "B" string is tuned a bit downwards, since a stronger string would be better, but not necessary.
  • Do I need guitars fingerings or notes?
The accompaniment of the songs is based on numbers that indicate the fret that must be griped. No knowledge of the music notes, chords or guitars fingerings are necessary.
  • How do I know when I need to grab the next fret?
Since the songbooks do not need music notes and scores you should know the songs. The numbers of the frets are placed directly above the word and shows when the fret have to be changed. So if you know the song and can sing / hum it, you can play it. The same applies to the melody line (see below).
  • Ok, with one finger of the left hand. But what do I do with my right hand?
The right hand is strumming in simple rhythms. For each song a recommendation of a strumming pattern is noted. These simple patterns can be found in each book and as video on our website. Who knows picking patterns can also use these, of course, here everything can be done...
  • What are the numbers of the third line?
A song line consists of three lines: the first is the fret to be used for the accompaniment (in numbers), the second line is the lyrics. The third line is the melody line: here, again with numbers, the frets of a string are indicated, which must be griped in order to play the melody. This is handy if you can not remember exactly the melody, or to find the pitch for sing along.
  • The songs are too deep for me to sing, what can I do?
The song can be played higher with the addition of a capo (available in every well-stocked music shop). The number "0" - which indicates the empty string - is then the fret where the capo is sitting.
  • Which other instruments does this system work with?
Most string instruments can be tuned into the "one finger" tuning. A list with details about the tuning can be found on our website.
  • In which languages are the songbooks available?
The majority of the information in the songbooks is presented as graphics without the need of a language. If words are necessary they are in english and german. The description in the eBook shop is in simple English, a language that almost everyone understands. The lyrics are in the respective original language, German vocals at german Folk Songs, English Folk Songs in English etc.
  • Do I need an eBook reader for eBooks?
No, the eBooks can be read with any computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.. The necessary programs and apps are free, the links to this are in the book and on our website. And even without installation, you can read the books - directly in the Kindle Cloud Reader in your own browser, the Cloud Reader is, of course, free of charge.
  • When will there be new books?
We are constantly working on new books of all genres. Simply visit our website or our Facebook page for information, and fans of the latter one will be automatically informed. Or subscribe to the newsletter on our website.
